The Vibes
Hikers unite!! ... Hey dope souls! Shake off the winter blues and join us as we embrace the warmth of spring with an energizing hike through the scenic Pine Log Creek Trail. Nestled north of Lake Allatoona, this 4.5-mile double-loop trail offers a delightful mix of moderate terrains, rustic footbridges, and the serene beauty of Georgia’s lush woodlands.
Trail Highlights:
• The Historic CCC Quarry Pond: Midway through our journey, we’ll encounter the tranquil, water-filled quarry pond—a remnant of the Civilian Conservation Corps’ work in the area. Its crystal-clear waters and dramatic rock formations provide a picturesque spot for rest and reflection.
• Rich Cherokee Heritage: As we traverse the trails, we’ll tread upon lands that once hosted a thriving Cherokee village, visited by Spanish explorer De Soto in 1570 and home to notable chieftains like Ridge, Vann, and Hicks.
• Flora and Fauna: Keep your eyes peeled for vibrant spring blooms and the diverse wildlife that call this area home. From soaring hawks to the gentle rustle of woodland creatures, nature’s symphony will be our soundtrack.
Trail Dets:
• Distance: 4.5 mile loop (rated moderate in difficulty)
• Elevation Gain: 728 feet
• Pace: We’ll keep a steady but manageable pace, taking breaks to soak in the surroundings and recharge. We'll pause at the waterfall for some intentional moments of reflection.
What to Bring:
Water, hydration drinks, snacks, and a light lunch.
Mindful Tips:
Be sure to wear sturdy footwear with good grip and support.
Pack a lunch to enjoy and fuel up while taking in the spectacular views.
It can be chilly when we stop, so layer up and bring something warm for when we stop, before looping back around.
Leave No Trace: Pack out what you bring on the trails.
Leave nature as you find it - leaving rocks, leaves, trees, mushrooms, and flowers on the trail.
Be respectful of others, wildlife, and nature!
Take in the sounds of nature, cascading water and reflect on the serenity of this trail.
Pause for a moment of gratitude near the waterfall.
